Welcome to PupaLingo. These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the PupaLingo website and web application available at pupalingo.com (the "Service"). In these Terms, "PupaLingo," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

PupaLingo is a free educational tool for learning Greek vocabulary. The Service allows you to:

• Browse a dictionary of Greek words with translations, pronunciation guides, and grammatical information.
• Study words using training exercises and spaced repetition.
• Create and manage your own word sets and track your learning progress.

2. Accounts

To use the Service you sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You may stop using the Service and sign out at any time.

3. Educational Content Disclaimer

The Service is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

• Translations, pronunciation guides, transcriptions, examples, and other learning content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
• The Service does not provide professional language instruction, certified translations, or expert linguistic advice, and no learning outcome is guaranteed.
• You should independently verify any content before relying on it for any purpose (exams, official documents, translations, or otherwise).

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit through the Service (such as custom word sets or suggested words). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and store such content for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. You represent that any content you submit does not infringe any third party's rights and does not contain illegal, harmful, or offensive material.

5. Acceptable Use

When using the Service, you agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
• Not interfere with or disrupt the Service's functionality or servers.
• Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data.
• Not scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise extract content from the Service by automated means without our prior written permission.
• Not use the Service's content to build datasets or to train, fine-tune, or improve any machine-learning or artificial-intelligence model without our prior written permission.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service and all of its content and materials — including but not limited to the dictionary of words, translations, transcriptions, pronunciation guides and reading rules, example sentences, word sets, texts, graphics, design, "look and feel," software, and the underlying database, as well as the selection, structure, arrangement, and compilation of all data (collectively, the "Materials") — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, database (sui generis), trademark, unfair-competition, and other intellectual property laws.

All use of the Materials is prohibited unless we have granted our prior written permission. Other than viewing the Service in a standard web browser for your own personal, non-commercial use, you must not, by any means or technology, in any form, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly:

• copy, reproduce, download, save, print, duplicate, or store the Materials;
• republish, post, display, mirror, frame, distribute, transmit, syndicate, or otherwise make the Materials available to any third party;
• modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the Materials;
• sell, rent, lease, license, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Materials;
• scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, extract, index, or otherwise collect the Materials by any automated or manual means, including bots, scripts, or data-collection tools;
• use the Materials to build, populate, or enrich any database, dataset, corpus, product, application, or service;
• use the Materials to develop, train, fine-tune, evaluate, or improve any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model, or for any text or data mining; or
• remove, obscure, or alter any copyright or other proprietary notice contained in or accompanying the Materials.

No license or right in or to the Materials is granted to you except as expressly stated in these Terms. Any unauthorized use automatically terminates your permission to access the Service, may infringe our rights and those of our licensors, may violate applicable laws, and may result in civil liability and, where applicable, criminal prosecution. We reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies, and we reserve all rights not expressly granted.

The Pupa Mascot and PupaLingo Branding

The "Pupa" mascot character — including its design, artwork, images, animations, and all other representations — together with the PupaLingo name and logo, are original works owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property and unfair-competition laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, create derivative works of, or otherwise use the Pupa character, the PupaLingo name, or the PupaLingo logo, in any form or medium, for any commercial or non-commercial purpose, without our prior written permission. 7. Free Service; Availability

The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time, with or without notice, and we shall not be liable to you for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation. We do not guarantee that the Service, or any content or data stored in it, will always be available or preserved.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
• Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
• Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or information provided.
• Warranties that the Service will meet your requirements or expectations.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

• WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.
• WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT OR INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE.
• OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. THE SERVICE IS CURRENTLY PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PupaLingo and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable laws, or any content you submit through the Service.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms, conduct that we believe is harmful to other users or to us, or technical or security reasons. You may stop using the Service at any time.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party services (such as Google sign-in) and may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts in accordance with applicable jurisdictional rules.

15. Severability; Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the Service.
